Day 2 started with a day tour.
Visited a couple of historical sites, shopping and food places also. Our tour guide/ driver, Ah Mong, was really good. And very funny too! He even said "Zhen Taoyan O" lolol like a girl! I guess Taiwanese are used to speaking like such! Haha!
He brought us to this shop to get Taiwan Snacks delicacy called Jing Zhan.
food tasting! yay! The man going through the snacks they sell! :D
all ready to rock the shop! Hahaha!
my basket!
The shop would then pack out buys into cartons (:
We each left the shop with a carton each zomg. Got so much snacks for colleagues and friends and it's such a bad choice cause we forgot we were headed for Hong Kong too!
Then we left to visit a palace!
the guard got to stay at this position for an hour.
Wan Gu Liu Fang
Asked a friend and he said it means, good name through the tests of years.
The guards would do a parade every hour (:
And it's said that the guards got to be at least 1.8m to be recruited.
huge doors!
This picture is so funny!
Daddy loves taking pictures, Zonia and I are just like him. Mommy doesn't like taking photos so she plays Daddy's photographer.
Look at my Mommy.
Pro okay! lol
interior of the palace!
Love the ceilings!
Ah Mong then drove us to see some medical shop which sells expensive "yao chai" like Ling zhi.
ling zhi
Tour guides are probably commission based so we just went ahead. Our family owns a medical hall so we have these already.
deer foetus
We were stuck in the place for almost half an hour. I had to say sorry we are not interested to get them.
Time for lunch at Jiufen (九份)!
Jiu Fen Chuan Tong Yu Wan
Ah Mong recommended this place for lunch. There were so many people we had to wait about 20 minutes for a seat! Apparently this shop has collaborations with the tour guides. We wanted to buy him lunch but he said he doesn't have to pay for anything here. lolol!
see the crowd!
so many people at 九份
Ah Mong advised that we walk around first!
It's just 1 long long long street at 九份.
A lot of food, snacks and some shopping.
This is so special!
At first sight, it looks like our typical popiah! But at a closer look, they top it up with two generous scoops of ice cream! (:
yummey!
Back to the lunch place!
drunken chicken
So good i tell you. It's cold chicken and you can taste the alcohol and the meat is so tender.
tang hoon with lu rou
lu rou fan
I don't take such fatty stuff ):
So we ended just having the sauce and tang hoon/ rice. But it taste really good. Hen Xiang!
fish/meat balls.
Then we had some desserts at Ah Po Yu Yuan.
Taiwan's Yu Yuan! It's empty and super chewy. Super QQ. lolol! There's also green and red beans and it's super sweet. So not to my liking.
My shawl lololol
Zonia and I parted with parents and aunt.
We walked around to do some shopping! ((:
Zonia and i got some knitted hats and ear mufflers.
cost about $6!
Got this just before we left! Super nice cutterfish which they heat on the spot!
Bought a few packets home too, going to heat like the lady did before i eat! ((:
Back to hotel to freshen up and out we go again, an hour later! :D
Din at Eslite again! It's the food/shopping area at Taipei Main Station!
We took a cab to ShiDa! Another famous shopping district!
Very much like a big big Bugis Street!
eee my fringe!
Ah Jin Mian Xian
We were feeling a little hungry so tried this mee sua cause there's like so many people eating and the number of interviews done there!
Daddy wanted to get a new jacket so there we were!
ShiDa is good for both males and females! ((: So girls who are going there, your boyfriends will have things to buy there too!
so nice!!
And just next to this shop is this crepes shop!
There's quite a queue, got to wait about 15 minutes for your order.
Ah Nuo Ke Li Bing!
freshly made!
crepes!
our order: Banana Chocolate Crepes! Only SGD$2! :D :D :D Gasps
and it's huge!
Okay my haul for the day was mostly snacks!
All packed into the cartons so no pictures )):

Hi, Zoe.
I would like to enquire on the day tour that you mentioned in this blog entry, how did you book the tour? How much did you pay for it? Btw, do you have the address of the local products store that you visited in Taiwan? Thanks in advance :)
